Homeowner planning
A clearer project brief makes an estimate more useful.
You do not need a finished design to contact Brewers Homes. Start with what you want the space to do, where the project is and which details matter most. The questions below help you prepare for the conversation and compare the scope when a proposal is available.

Start with five useful details.
- Your name and the best phone or email for a reply.
- The city or township where the work would take place.
- The type of project: deck, covered porch, or the carpentry/woodwork you want to discuss.
- Your main goal and the current condition of the space.
- Your preferred timing and a budget range, if you have one.
Have photos and documents ready.
A wide view and a few detail photos can explain the space more clearly than a long description. Note the door or entry involved, existing stairs, visible damage and access to the work area. Have any survey, plot plan, drawings or known property restrictions available. Ask how to share them; do not post a private street address or documents in public comments.
How your request moves forward.
- Share the starting point. Send your town or township, the goal for your deck or porch, and your preferred timing through the estimate form.
- Confirm the next step. Brewers Homes will review your details and contact you about next steps. The service area is within one hour of Plymouth, Michigan.
- Arrange any visit together. Visits may be arranged on weekdays from 7 PM or weekends by agreement. Brewers Homes will confirm your visit with you; an inquiry does not book an appointment.
Confirm the next step with Tanner.
- What information is needed to assess the project?
- Is a site visit, design work or more documentation needed before an estimate can be prepared?
- Which parts of the work are within Brewers’ scope?
- What current availability applies to this project, and when should you expect the next update?
- Are there costs for an assessment, design or estimate step? Ask rather than assuming it is free.
Read the scope, not just the total.
When an estimate or proposal is available, compare what it includes. A deck surface, railing, stairs, roof connection, site access and changes to an existing structure can affect the proposed work. Ask for unclear items to be explained before deciding.
- Exact materials and product collections, where selected.
- Work included and work excluded, including removal/disposal and site restoration where relevant.
- Who is responsible for permits, drawings and inspections.
- How changes to the agreed scope will be discussed and documented.
- Payment terms, anticipated sequence, and any product or workmanship terms actually offered.
Check credentials against the work.
Michigan’s Bureau of Construction Codes provides an official Verify a License route. Ask for the appropriate business/license information and check it through the state where applicable. Confirm insurance and any project-specific requirements directly before agreeing to work. Source: Michigan LARA construction codes
Use one clear next action.
Send your project details through the Brewers Homes estimate form, call the business line, or email Tanner. If you already submitted a request, mention that when following up so the conversation has the right context. Confirm your appointment and any project commitments directly; inquiry availability is not a construction schedule.
